Problem: Human Trafficking, sex trafficking and the adult sex industries prey upon those who are most vulnerable. Whether it is a child who is at play, or a teen looking to run away from home. Often times its a teen who is on social media being stalked by a predator. Other times it is sexual abuse or physical abuse within the home of a teen or young adult or even child that leads them to this place.
NJ has several human trafficking hubs spread across our state. It is estimated at least one person goes missing daily and ends up in some type of trafficking. Sex trafficking is particularly brutal and most victims are never found once they're subjugated.
The Solution: Matt will use his office as Governor to call attention to the criminals and the institutions that are supporting them. As Governor, Matt will create a Special Task Force that will work with state and local agencies to identify, arrest, and expose those that are involved with this horrible trade.
Additionally, Matt will work with organizations that have shown that they are effective at the prevention of the causes (family counseling, teen shelters, human trafficking prevention, etc.). Matt is committed to making New Jersey as hostile working environment for those that work in the trade of human exploitation and trafficking.
